For those members, who could not attend the GBM, I would like to brief some of significant achievements of the Chapter year.
For the professional up gradation of members, about 4700 training hours were provided in terms of technical meets and training programs during the year. About 250 members got the benefit of these programs.
We played a key role in ASSE Global Taskforce and in introducing the Global membership dues structure, which reduced the membership fees for developing countries (Group I -US$120/-, Group II -US $90/-, Group III-US$60/).
Due to the above, our membership has increased by 125 % (ie from 200 members to 460 members) during the Chapter year and became the largest ASSE Chapter outside USA.
Several Outreach Programs were conducted for member children and school children, which helped in educating more than 2000 students & their families on health safety & environmental issues. We have bagged more than 40 % of prizes from NAOSH (North American Occupational Safety & Health) Week competitions.
Our Chapter procedure on Delegate Selection is revised with specific criteria. Based on this, we have deputed three delegates to represent our Chapter in PDC-USA to provide the opportunities for professional development of members who are contributing to the Chapter growth.
Our Chapter has got registered with President's Court of ASSE-USA Membership Honor Roll, the first international chapter to enter into this Court.
We have released first ever HSE Diary with technical information for the benefit of members. Also released monthly HSE Update to brief about the Chapter activities and latest updates in the field. A special agreement entered with ASSE-HQ to maintain our Website to provide up to date information.
We have established a Conference Planning Committee as part of Executive Committee, which is working in parallel for preparation of hosting our 5th International Professional Development Conference in March 2009.
To show case our Chapter, we have participated in several conferences viz. IEI, ICCE, ASSE-MEC Conferences and Kuwait Waste Management Conference.
As per the new strategy of ASSE-HQ to support international chapters, our Chapter has been aligned with Region-VI of ASSE, USA. This has provided many opportunities to learn on Chapter Operations and related supports.
In recognition of our Chapter activities, we have been honored with Chapter Star Year of the Award under Region-VI
And many more activities were carried out during the year.
On behalf of Executive Committee, I take this opportunity to thank our Advisory Committee for providing timely advise and guiding us to take our Chapter to greater heights.
